MW Health

Welcome to our District Health Page!

On these pages you will find information on current health issues and concerns, links to sites that provide more facts on these topics, and at the bottom of this page, files to download, such as the 2014 Immunization Schedule and our Health Services Newsletters.

Right now, on our Health News page, you can find information on Head Lice and Bed Bugs. Also, check out the NEW Health in the District page that includes activities our high school health clubs have participated in.

Also, this year the Monroe Woodbury Central School District has been selected by the New York State Department of Health to provide BMI/Weight Status Category information on students who are required to have physical examinations in grades K, 2, 4, 7, and 10. Please see the letters below for further information.

Vision, Hearing and Scoliosis Screening

Students are screened in school for Vision, Hearing, and Scoliosis according to New York State Mandates. Parents/Guardians will be notified of any findings on the screenings done at school that would cause concern or need medical follow-up by their private practitioner. State Mandates for these screenings are as follows:

Vision Screening - Grades K-3, 5, 7, 10

Hearing Screening - Grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 10

Scoliosis - Grades 5-9

Important Note:Epipen
All students who are in need of an Epipen for allergies or an inhaler for asthma MUST have a doctor's order and have medication, either with them or in the Health Office to be eligible for participation in field trips. Therefore, any student who does not have a doctor's order and their medication will not be able to go on a field trip.

In response to the concerns about the upcoming flu season, the District has hand sanitizers for student and faculty use. The sanitizer dispensers are conveniently placed in the cafeterias and are Green Seal certified products. They are foam style and non-alcohol, color and fragrance free.

Hand Sanitizter
We will still be promoting hand washing as the best practice to prevent the spread of germs and we encourage students and staff members to continue washing their hands frequently. The hand sanitizers are available for times when hand washing is not possible.
