Update regarding school calendar and snow days

on April 6, 2018

Prior to the school closing on Monday, April 2, the district had met the state requirement of 180 school days. We are now at 179 days and there are no remaining “give back” days.

District administrators have contacted the NYS Education Department (NYSED) to discuss the steps necessary to secure an exemption for the last snow day. We have provided preliminary documentation to NYSED, and they have indicated that the district will most likely be granted an “extraordinary condition day.” The state provides special consideration for school districts due to weather related emergencies such as this.

Based on this information and the lack of “give back” days, the district will not be making up the April 2 snow day.

Please contact Superintendent Elsie Rodriguez if you have any questions.
