Unit 2 - Electricity- Parent Letter

Dear Family, 

 During the next few weeks of school our class will be investigating how scientists 

study electricity.  We are hoping to make a number of connections between what we study 

in class and what the students have and use at home. 

 We will be asking the pupils to know the rules for the safe handling of electrical 

devices and to make a list of devices in the home that use electricity.  They will also be 

asked to identify the types of electrical switches used in their home, the different types of 

light bulbs found there, and the types of electrical circuits that might be found in their own 

particular room.  We are recommending that students just observe home electrical circuits, 

and then do so ONLY WITH adult supervision. 

 Any cooperation, guidance, safety instruction, and other information you can 

provide to help with these home/school connections would be greatly appreciated.  Thank 

you for your help.
