ATTENTION SENIORS The John Harrington Memorial Scholarship is now available. To honor the memory of John Harrington, a former Monroe-Woodbury math teacher, $1,000 will be awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates a passion for mathematics, has shown strong academic progress in math and embraces life with a great sense of humor. REQUIREMENTS: An essay, no more than 200 words, stating what your future plans are following graduation from Monroe-Woodbury High School. The deadline is May 14, 2012. Upcoming Guidance Events: | May | | | | 2nd | Orange County Counselor’s Association COLLEGE NIGHT | The OCCA would like to invite you to attend the 58th Annual College Night at Orange County Community College in Middletown. Over 175 college representatives are expected to be in attendance and this is a fantastic opportunity to interact with admissions representatives who manage our region. The event is from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will be held at the Athletics Field House Building. All parents and students are welcome to attend. Topics covered include important dates, deadlines, events, college selection, Scholarships, SAT/ACT exams and summer opportunities. Once again, all students will be encouraged to meet with their counselor for an individual post high school planning session before the end of the year. | | 23rd | Orange County Community College On-Site Admission Day | An admissions representative from Orange County Community College will be in the building to assist students with their applications and MW counselors will be on hand to provide transcripts. Any student that plans to attend O.C.C.C. in the fall and has not already applied is strongly encouraged to take advantage of this convenient opportunity during their lunch period. The admissions representative will be in the building from 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM. | | 29th – 31st | Senior Surveys | Counselors will visit senior English classes to get feedback on students’ individual plans after high school and the college they have decided to attend through a brief survey. | | June | | | | 2nd | SAT I SAT II | SATs will be administered at MWHS. 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
