1st graders find Cat in the Hat’s hat

on March 21, 2019

First graders at Sapphire participated in a Dr. Seuss Breakout game with Computer Literacy Teacher, Mrs. Becher, and Librarian, Mrs. Hiller. Breakout games use re-settable locked boxes that can be opened by solving a set of clues. Clues can involve many different kinds of skills such as puzzles, math problems, colors or sequencing. The problems require collaboration and teamwork as well as creative thinking.

For the Dr. Seuss Birthday Breakout game, students were told that Thing 1 and Thing 2 had stolen The Cat in the Hat’s favorite hat and locked it in a box. Students worked in teams to successfully solve puzzles to unlock the box and rescue The Cat in the Hat’s hat. It was a fun and creative way to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s Birthday!
