SC loves apples!

on October 19, 2017

The sweet smells and tastes of autumn were in the air at Smith Clove as students learned everything about the growth stages of an apple (check out the costume on this little cutie) and how to make cider. Our students are awesome to the core!

Special thanks to traveling naturalist Sarah Mayes, a.k.a. “The Apple Lady,” who teaches the students all about the different kinds of apples grown in our area and about the various uses of the apples. She also uses a hand-operated cider press and has the students help make (and then taste) fresh apple cider during this deliciously fun program. Her presentation is sponsored by the Smith Clove PTA and the MW Arts in Education program.
