Capital Project Voter Information

On October 23, 2018 registered voters in the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District are asked to vote on a proposed capital project to upgrade athletic facilities and replace the High School cooling tower and chillers. The project has a ZERO tax impact. The polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Central Valley Elementary School, 45 Route 32, Central Valley, NY 10917, (845)460-6700.

All residents can expect to receive in the mail a notice about the proposed project in the weeks prior to the vote. If you do not receive the capital project notice, please contact the Communications Office at 845-460-6200, ext. 6262 or email: [email protected] to request that one be mailed to you. Voter Eligibility

You are eligible to vote if you are a United States citizen, 18 years or older, and a resident of the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District for at least 30 days prior to the date of the vote.

  • If you are registered to vote in general elections, you are automatically eligible to vote in school elections.
  • If you are not registered to vote in general elections, you can obtain a registration form in the office of the District Clerk, at any school building or download a New York State Voter Registration Form. Mail or deliver it to the Orange County Board of Elections.
  • You may also register to vote ONLY in Monroe-Woodbury district elections and not in general elections. If that is your preference, please complete and submit to the office of the District Clerk the following form: M-WCSD ONLY VOTER REGISTRATION

Special Voter Registration will be held at the Education Center, 278 Route 32, Central Valley on:

  • Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Absentee Ballots

Absentee Ballots are available to registered residents who are unable to vote in person for reasons of illness or disability or who will be out of town on the date of the vote. To receive an Absentee Ballot, voters must submit an Application for Absentee Ballot Form. The Applications are available from the Acting Clerk of the District by calling (845)460-6200 ext. 6203 or by downloading the Application for Absentee Ballot.

The completed Application for Absentee Ballot must be received by the Acting Clerk of the District before an Absentee Ballot can be provided to the voter. The Acting Clerk of the District provides Absentee Ballots either:

  1. BY MAIL:
    • If the Absentee Ballot is to be mailed to the voter, the completed Application for Absentee Ballot must be received by the Acting Clerk of the District no later than 4:30 P.M., Prevailing Time, Tuesday, October 16, 2018.
  2. IN PERSON at the Education Center:
    • If the Absentee Ballot is to be given personally to the voter, the completed Application for Absentee Ballot must be received by the Acting Clerk of the District no later than 4:30 P.M., Prevailing Time, Monday, October 22, 2018.

To be counted in the election, completed Absentee Ballots must be received by the Acting Clerk of the District no later than 5:00 P.M., Prevailing Time, on the date of the Special District Meeting and bond proposition vote.
