Staff with handmade donated blankets

On a cold and blustery November 23rd, staff members from the Transportation Department and the Education Center met at the Bus Garage to deliver their donations of 393 handmade blankets destined for the arms of local children in need. The mission of Project Linus is to "provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.” Since its beginning in 1995, Project Linus has donated more than 8 million blankets to "children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug."

M-W is so proud of its "blanketeers" for their kindness and caring, and for the many hours spent creating this mountain of hugs!
