Monroe-Woodbury named one of the "Best Communities for Music"

For the 11th consecutive year, Monroe-Woodbury Central School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. Now in its 23rd year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

“Success in music continues to be a long-standing tradition in Monroe-Woodbury. The district's students and teachers ambitiously rose to the challenges of these last two years.  This is evident by the M-W community being recognized by the NAMM Foundation, for the 11th consecutive year, as being one of the "Best Communities for Music Education!" Whether it was with virtual concerts during the heart of the pandemic, to organizing outdoor events, to returning to traditional performances and festivals, the M-W community has been determined to keep music alive. Congratulations to the Monroe-Woodbury music program and community!” said Christopher Taborsky, District Music Coordinator.

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Monroe-Woodbury answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
