Student holding award

MWHS senior Abigail Connolly received the Calm Seas Research Award from the Calm Seas Behavioral Health Organization. In addition to a $500 check to further her research, Connolly was offered a position as an intern with the organization following graduation to continue her research. Connolly would work with the company to bring awareness to the struggles faced by Veterans and Members of the Uniformed Service each day.

Connolly is currently enrolled in a MWHS Science Research Course through U Albany.  Her study is entitled, “How Moral Injury Impacts Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures (PNES) in Female U.S. Combat Veterans Between 18-40." Connolly's research project includes two questionnaires, one for patients with PNES and Moral Injury and one for patients with only PNES.

Connolly is in the process of reaching out to various organizations via Instagram and Facebook groups to help raise awareness of her study. She has also created a website for her research: How Moral Injury Impacts Psychogenic Non-epileptic Seizures in Female U.S. Combat Veterans 18-40

She is looking for participants, specifically female combat veterans between the ages of 18-40. If you have any questions about her research or about how to be included in the study, please contact Dr. Allen Hershman at [email protected] or Mrs. Puopolo at MWHS [email protected].

Congratulations, Abigail, on this impressive accomplishment!
