  • Transportation retirees give the thumbs up

Members of the M-W transportation team gathered last week for a celebratory BBQ during School Transportation Appreciation Week, an event marked by great company and great food. Part of the celebration included special recognition of two retiring district employees, Pat Batewell and Evelyn Maietta.

Pat is retiring after  27 years with MWCSD and has been a resident of the school district for 43 years.  She started as a substitute school bus driver in 1993, became a routed driver in 1995, and then became school bus dispatcher.  Since 2016, Pat has served as the assistant director of transportation. The safety of our students has always been her first priority. Both her children, and now her granddaughter, attended Monroe-Woodbury schools.  Her knowledge of the district and expert routing skills help keep our buses on schedule. No matter how difficult or challenging the situation, Pat always rises to the challenge with patience and understanding.  Pat will be sorely missed. We wish her the best in all her future endeavors.

Evelyn Maietta is retiring after 13 years as the bilingual secretary for the transportation department. Evelyn has been a district resident for many years.  Her children were both graduates of MWCSD.  Evelyn has been the heart of our operation, always making sure we came together as a family to celebrate the good times, or to offer a helping hand for an employee or family in need.  We will miss her spunk, positive energy and kindness.  We wish Evelyn a wonderful retirement!

Best wishes to Pat and Evelyn and a great big thank you to the entire transportation department for all that you have done this school year for our students this year!
