Update for 2020-2021 School Year

Please bear in mind that in the event of a school closing, delayed opening or early dismissal, parents/guardians will be contacted via

  • email
  • text
  • and/or phone call

based on preferences selected on Parent Portal. Please take a moment to make sure your contact information on the portal is up to date.

School closings, early dismissals or delayed openings will be posted on:

  • M-W website homepage, where messages are posted and removed in a timely manner
  • M-W district Facebook page – “Like” us on Facebook to get up to the minute information.
  • Follow the M-W district Instagram account

Typical delay and early dismissal times are outlined below. Please remember that in some cases, it may be necessary to adjust these times. Any time adjustments would be communicated to parents/guardians as quickly as possible and posted to the district webpage, Facebook and Instagram.

Delayed Opening

Bus Transportation

In the case of delayed opening, all buses, both in and out of district, operate on the specified delay schedule.

BOCES CTEC Programs

All CTEC programs at BOCES will be bused based on the Monroe-Woodbury schedule. Students will not be charged for absence from BOCES if buses are not available.

Families should check the BOCES site for their schedule as well since it is often the same as the district’s.

BOCES delayed opening cancels morning CTEC programs.

1 Hour Delay

M-W High School – 8:10 a.m. start time
M-W Middle School – 9:10 a.m. start time (early drop-off classes begin at 8:25 a.m.)
Sapphire and Smith Clove (K-1) – 9:30 a.m. start time
Central Valley, North Main, Pine Tree (2-5) – 10:15 a.m. start time

2 Hour Delay

M-W High School – 9:10 a.m. start time
M-W Middle School – 10:10 a.m. start time (early drop-off classes begin at 9:25 a.m.)
Sapphire and Smith Clove (K-1) – 10:30 a.m. start time
Central Valley, North Main and Pine Tree – 11:15 a.m. start time

3 Hour Delay

M-W High School – 10:10 a.m. start time
M-W Middle School – 11:10 a.m. start time (early drop-off classes begin at 10:25 a.m.)
Sapphire and Smith Clove (K-1) – 11:30 a.m start time
Central Valley, North Main and Pine Tree (2-5) – 12:15 p.m. start time

Early Dismissal*

M-W High School – 10:30 a.m. dismissal
M-W Middle School – 11:37 a.m. dismissal
Sapphire and Smith Clove (K-1) – 11:45 a.m. dismissal
Central Valley, North Main, Pine Tree – 12:45 p.m. dismissal

Buses can be expected to arrive at bus stops 3 hours earlier than usual.

*In the event of an emergency early dismissal, all after school activities are cancelled.
