Planning for the 2021- 2022 Smith Clove PTA board has begun.

It is the time of year when we must think of nominations for members of our PTA Executive Board. All positions are open and anyone may nominate themselves or someone else. The new PTA Board will be voted on at the May 13th PTA meeting. The Executive Board is made up of a president, vice president, treasurer, recording secretary and corresponding secretary. The board works with the staff of the school and the PTA volunteers to raise funds for the school, plan and execute events, and serve as a liaison between the Smith Clove PTA and the other PTA’s in the district.

Descriptions of open positions:


organizes and executes monthly PTA meetings, works closely with the District PTA, manages the executive board and oversees events

Vice President

assists the President in day to day operations of the PTA


handles all funds for the PTA, creates budget for funds, and disburses funds when appropriate

Recording Secretary

records the minutes of all meetings, sends out meeting notices, assists Executive Board

Corresponding Secretary

conducts correspondence as directed by Executive Board, posts on social media and manages group emails

Being on a committee doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment. You can volunteer an hour, a day or a project at a time for the school year.

We LOVE our Volunteers and need them in order to make events successful!

Some of our Committees

Grade 1 Yearbook

  • Ongoing throughout the school year
  • Take pictures at various first grade events
  • Create layouts for yearbook pages

Lunchtime Theater

  • Performances are once a month
  • Make props/sets and costumes if needed
  • Narrate the book being performed
  • Perform a speaking or non-speaking role
  • Your children will think you are a star!

Book Fair

  • Twice each year in November and April
  • Help students choose and locate books
  • Help students write the titles of books on their wish list

Picture Day

  • Twice each year in October and April
  • Check students’ hair and attire to be sure they are neat and photo ready
  • Assist teachers and photographers in keeping the children in line while they wait to have their picture taken.

Holiday Boutique & Bazaar

  • December
  • Help set up tables
  • Help students choose gifts for their loved ones.

Family Fun Night

  • January
  • Help set up tables
  • Help set up food and drinks to be sold at the event

Movie Night

  • April
  • Place popcorn into cups or bags so they are ready for families as they enter
  • Help set up food and drinks

Art Boosters

  • Starts after winter break
  • Help our Art teacher, Mrs. Walker, for two hours (mid-day once per week) by hanging children’s art work and placing 3D artwork in glass cases
