Current Update from DOT – 12/18/18 – TRAVELER ADVISORY

Motorists are advised that, as part of the ongoing Woodbury Transit & Economic Development Hub Reconstruction project, the previously announced traffic shift expected for Route 32 this week, is scheduled to occur over two nights.

Tuesday, December 18

The first night of the shift will begin tonight, Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at 11 p.m. and involve shifting Route 32 in the areas of Larkin Drive, Route 6, and Locey Lane. This work is expected to last until approximately 6 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, December 19.

Wednesday, December 19

The second night of the shift will occur on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at approximately 11:45 p.m. and will include the remainder of the work zone (the areas of Route 17, Nininger Road, Central Valley Elementary School and Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets). Work on this section is expected to last until approximately 6 a.m. Thursday, December 20, 2018.

The number of lanes will remain the same and additional signage will be in place to guide motorists through the new traffic pattern. Extra flaggers will be on-site to help with traffic mitigation during the traffic shifts.

Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.

Current Update from DOT – 12/10/18

map of new construction traffic pattern

Traffic on Route 32 is scheduled to be shifted west onto the newly constructed roads and bridges during the week of December 17, 2018 (see graphic above). The number of lanes will remain the same and additional signage will be in place to guide motorists through the new traffic pattern. Please proceed through this area with care and observe the posted speed limits as there will be ongoing construction activities in this area over the coming months.

The left lane is a dedicated through-lane from Exit 130 eastbound to the NYS Thruway toll booths. Eastbound traffic on Route 17 will remain shifted onto the paved median to maintain a safe and unobstructed work zone. Local traffic should continue to use the right lane only as exits are not permitted from the left lane.

The Route 17 westbound ramp from Route 32 northbound will be relocated north of the Route 6 overpass (see graphic below). The new traffic pattern is expected to be in place during the week of December 17, 2018. Additional signage will be in place to guide travelers through the new traffic pattern.
