Summer Enrichment Courses and Information

Welcome to Summer Enrichment 2019

  • Student coding sphero robots

Summer Enrichment courses will be held at Pine Tree Elementary School, 156 Pine Tree Road in Monroe. The high school is unavailable due to the ongoing construction in the building and at the athletic fields. Swimming classes will continue to be held at the M-W Middle School.

Please note:

Due to the relocation of the program this summer and resulting space restrictions, Summer Enrichment cannot be offered to students outside of the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District.

Extreme Heat

In the event of extreme heat, Pine Tree classes will be relocated to air conditioned spaces in the building. Sports classes will be indoors. The cafeteria is not air conditioned but large fans will be used. For details, view the Extreme Heat Schedule

Due to requests from families, we’ve made some changes to the schedule and format of Summer Enrichment. Read on to learn more!

All Day Option

One of the most requested changes to the program is the option to register for consecutive classes throughout the day. Classes run from 8 AM through 3 PM with supervision throughout the day. Parents or guardians who have registered children for consecutive classes will drop off at the designated start time for their child’s first class and return at the end of the final class. Students will be supervised as they move from class to class. If you sign up your child for only one class, or classes are not run in a sequence, please pick up your child after the first class and/or in between classes.

Will lunches be served?

There is a 45 minute supervised block in the middle of the day for lunch/recess; however, meals will not be served. Storage of lunches brought from home will be provided.

Will the classes repeat week after week, doing the same thing?

The plan is designed to give families the option of signing up their children all day, every day for the entire six weeks, so the curriculum has been designed to spiral. This means classes can be started at any point during the summer and students will never miss learning new skills, but also never repeat the same activities during the six week period.

Will older and younger children be in the same classes?

No, the classes have been set up on a rotating basis, so every age group has an activity to do at the same time period, but never with another age group. This allows for friendships to be made within the age groups, and fosters the development of the year-after-year camp friendships that a traditional summer camp provides.
