Congrats to boys & girls varsity soccer – SECTION IX Champs!

on October 26, 2018

Boys varsity soccer team wins Section IX. On Wednesday, October 24, the Monroe-Woodbury Boys Varsity Soccer Team captured its first Section IX Class AA title since 2015. With a 17-0 record, the team will enter the New York State Tournament ranked #2 in the State (NYS Sportswriters Association) and #18 Nationally (USA Today Super 25). Captains Nolan Kelly and Christian Garner led a team that has scored 60 goals and surrendered only 3.

The Board of Education’s own student representative Christian Hess, along with Joseph Olivette and Joseph Nastu, support Garner’s stout defense. Conor Paik, Colin LaGarde, Jesse Schwartz and Chris Ryan work with Nolan on the offense. Ikiel Collins-Brown and Christ Valle have over 20 goals combined this year after returning from season-ending injuries when they were Juniors.

On Halloween, this team loaded with scholar athletes and student government officials will take on Section IV at Faller Field in Middletown. By Veteran’s Day, we hope to bring the Boys Soccer State Title to Monroe-Woodbury.

Girls varsity soccer team wins Section IX.

The Monroe-Woodbury Girls Varsity Soccer Team won its sixth Class AA Section 9 Title! The team’s current record is 15-1-1 and the team is trying to make it back to the final four and the championship game.

All season the team has worked hard trying to accomplish what they did in the 2017 season. They have worked hard in practice and have gotten better each week. The team is composed of senior leadership and young talent that has led to this success.
