Connor Paik recognized as All American player

on January 22, 2019

On Saturday, January 12, 2019, Monroe-Woodbury senior Connor Paik received the All American award at the United Soccer Coaches National Convention held in Chicago. Paik was one of only 68 boys varsity players selected by United Soccer Coaches as an All American. He is only the second MW player to ever receive this type of national recognition, and only the fourth Section IX player in the last decade to receive this national award.

A three year varsity starter, Paik has helped M-W win three consecutive Division titles and make three consecutive Section IX Finals appearances. During his junior year, Paik was a unanimous All Star Selection by the Section IX Coaches Association as a Class AA All Star. He was also selected for the All-Section All Star team and was selected as a Second-Team Times Herald Record All-Star by Varsity845. As a senior, Paik helped lead the team to a Section IX Title and throughout their run to the NYS Championship. Paik was selected four out of five times by the MW coaches as the “player of the game” during the run from the Section IX Finals to the State Finals.

By the end of his senior season, Paik was selected as the team MVP, which was voted on by his teammates. He was unanimously selected again by the Section IX Coaches Association as both a Class AA All Star and a Section IX All Star. Paik was named Player of the Year by the Times Herald Record and Varsity845 and a First Team All Star. He was also selected as a First Team New York State All Star from the Large Format schools, and was one of only two Section IX players to receive this recognition. He was then selected as a United Soccer Coaches All Region player (Northeast Region), again one of only two Section IX players to receive this regional and national recognition.

Congratulations to Connor!
