The PTA’s Annual Student Bakeoff is a delicious Central Valley tradition! This year’s event was no exception, featuring cakes, pies, cookies, muffins and bars baked by 83 Central Valley students in grades 2-5. Each grade level is assigned a type of dessert to bake.
The bakers were thanked with a participation ribbon plus a cookie cutter. Second and Third Place bakers received winning ribbons plus cookie cutters, and First Place students also received a cookbook. The real winners, however, were the Central Valley community members, all of whom were invited to sample the desserts once the judges had finished their task!
The competition is judged on taste and appearance. The lucky judges included members of the district’s administration and Board of Education, as well as community members Mike Queenan, Mayor of Woodbury, Joey Gianzero, President of the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce, Pamela Gambuti, Woodbury Animal Control Officer, and Annie McGuiness from A Better Place.
