FBLA Cheers for a Cure

Student members of Future Business Leaders of America smile at the Commons during the Making Strides for Cancer walk. The morning of the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk dawned unusually warm on Sunday, October 15, 2017. Walkers bustled around the Woodbury Commons, creating a wonderful assortment of pink. Tents were found throughout the shopping center, giving out various pink breast cancer merchandise. The American Cancer Society’s annual walk had attracted thousands of people to join the cause. Families, companies and friends all gathered together to support their loved ones and fight for a cure.

Hours before the walk even began, volunteers were called to gather in the mall. Members of Monroe-Woodbury FBLA were assigned locations along the route to encourage and direct the walkers. When the start was announced and music started to play, the people surged forward and began to walk and holler. FBLA cheered and clapped for the walkers as they went by in a seemingly never ending mass of pink. The volunteers were happy to help raise awareness and aid the efforts in searching for a cure.
