The Monroe-Woodbury Athletic Director, Lori Hock, would like to announce that Gabrielle Nebiker and Trevor LaDue are the “Athletes of the Week” for the week ending April 20, 2018. Both Track and Field athletes, Gabrielle represents the Monroe-Woodbury Girls Varsity Track and Field team coached by William Mpasiakos, and Trevor represents the Monroe-Woodbury Boys Varsity Track and Field team coached by James Glover.
Gabrielle Nebiker has been a member of the Varsity Girls Track and Field program for three years. Gabby competes in pole vault, 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, open 400m, 100m, 200m and triple jump. She is a valuable member of our team and contributes to team scoring. She scores in the Counties and Section Championships as well. This past winter she qualified for the NY State meet in the pole vault. Gabrielle is a top-notch academic student, an extremely hard worker, and has enormous talent. This spring she is off to a great start and has done well in all that she participates in. The 400m hurdles is an event she added to her repertoire and she has won every dual meet she has participated in so far. The Monroe-Woodbury Girls Track Team is aiming for its 6th consecutive OCIAA and Section IX championship in a row and if they succeed, Gabrielle Nebiker will be a major reason why.
A senior member of the boys outdoor track and field team, Trevor LaDue has led M-W to a very impressive start to the 2018 season. Monroe-Woodbury has a 2-0 start in league competition this spring and won the Pearl River Pirate relays. Trevor excels in the mid-distance and distance events. He led the 3200 meter relay team to an impressive win at the Green Dragon relays. Trevor also runs on the 1600 meter relay team. His work ethic, and positive attitude make Trevor a super role model for the rest of the team.
Congratulations to Gabby and Trevor!
