M-W breaks ground on athletic complex

on June 10, 2019

On Wednesday, May 29, members of the school community gathered at the Monroe-Woodbury High School campus to commemorate the groundbreaking for the school district’s upgraded athletic complex.

With storm clouds hovering, students, family members, community leaders, and other members of the M-W family watched as students put “shovels in the ground” to mark that construction is underway.

Representatives from local and state elected officials joined in the celebration. Senator James Skoufis, a M-W alumnus who helped the district secure funding for the project, sent along the following statement:

I’m so thankful for the guidance, education and encouragement I received at Monroe-Woodbury. The years I spent at M-W were some of the best of my life – and prepared me for college and, more recently, public service.

Since taking office, I’ve worked to fight for and support my alma mater and the students who followed my graduation in 2005. That includes the $1 million in special aid I was proud to help secure last year. To now see this important project break ground is a continued testament to the district’s commitment to excellence in all aspects of a student’s livelihood. I congratulate the district on this milestone and can’t wait to see the new and improved complex on the other end of construction.”

Stay tuned for construction updates throughout the summer months! #wedigMW #mwfam #mwinspiresuccess
