M-W cross country teams sweep OCIAA Championships

on October 27, 2017

For the first time since 1988 – almost 30 years – the Monroe-Woodbury Boys and Girls Cross Country teams are both county champions.

The girls secured their 3rd consecutive OCIAA title with a dominant performance. Led by race winner Jessica Pidgeon, the girls had all five of their team scorers in the overall top 10 places of the race. This led to a 30 to 68 point spread over runner up Cornwall.

The boys claimed their first OCIAA title since 2003 and second title since 1992.  Senior Trevor Ladue led the charge for the Crusaders finishing 3rd overall. The next five M-W boys stormed into the top 25 overall places.  This proved to provide the crucial push as MW outdistanced perennial powerhouse Warwick Valley by 11 points.

Congratulations to our hard working athletes! It’s a great day to be a Crusader! #crusaderpride
