Monroe-Woodbury’s Future Business Leaders of America participants represented the school district admirably at the State Leadership Conference in Binghamton on April 9-12, 2019. Congratulations to the 10 M-W students who worked so diligently to prepare for competition.
Students from Monroe-Woodbury achieved the following recognition:
- Katelynn Mangual will serve as NYS FBLA Officer/treasurer for 2019-2020. To earn this title, Mangual had to pass a comprehensive state exam, conduct an interview by a board of trustee member, campaign and present a speech in front of 1,200 students attending the conference.
- Chapter of the Year — 5th place. This required an all year effort to collect and report activities taking place in FBLA.
- Parliamentary Procedure Team Event – Kyle Nematz, Kate Yoon, Katelynn Mangual, Omar Jainul and Charles Liu – 3rd place; only five of the top scores within the state advanced to the performance round. It was the first time M-W competed and placed in this event
- Parliamentary Individual Event – Kyle Nematz – 2nd place. This required a comprehensive test on Parliamentary procedure.
- Economics – Daniel Luo – 3rd place
- Business Calculations – Kyle Nematz – 2nd place
- Intro to Financial Math – Daniel Luo – 1st place
Shout out to freshman members Matthew Edelstein and Derek Li who placed 2nd at the divisional level!
Way to go, Monroe-Woodbury FBLA. We are so proud!
