M-W launches redesigned website

on March 14, 2016

After more than a year of planning, designing, writing new content and migrating existing material, the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District has launched a new, redesigned version of its website, mw.k12.ny.us. While the new site retains the vast amount of information that was available on the old site, key new features include a cleaner, more attractive design, with enhanced search and navigation features.

The new design incorporates a “responsive” layout that adapts to different devices (smart phones, tablets and desktop computers) and multiple web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari) for an optimal viewing experience with easy reading and navigation.

Along with the updated look, the site offers a news page where visitors can find the latest headlines, photo galleries, archives and more. On the homepage, the new site uses large photos to showcase news stories about district students and staff, as well as features stories about special programs M-W offers.

The new website is categorized by seven major topics: About M-W, Academics, Athletics, Board of Education, Community, District Services and News. Clicking on any of these links across the top of the site will allow visitors to access the more detailed sub-pages for each. Windows with “More Information” on the subpages will help visitors gain quick access to the information they’re seeking.

Space on the right side of the homepage includes “Quick Links” to frequently-visited pages such as the district Facebook page, Parent/Student Portal, Parent Today, menus, Student Resource link and the nurse’s office. An agenda-style google calendar of upcoming district events appears on the homepage as well.

The school pages also can be accessed from the homepage’s main navigation. Each school’s page includes featured photos, school links, daily announcements and more.
A google calendar with school specific events can be viewed from each school homepage.

If visitors can’t find what they’re looking for, they can use the powerful “Search” button in the purple section at the top right of each page or the “A to Z” on the district homepage, which provides an alphabetical listing of important subject areas related to the district.
At the top of the homepage is “Contact Us,” which provides information about key district leadership. All administration, faculty and staff members can be reached via email by using their first initial, last [email protected]

“We are excited to present the newly designed website,” said Superintendent of Schools Elsie Rodriguez. “This website provides important information and resources to all members of the M-W community in a clear, easily accessible manner. We hope our families find it a valuable resource for information related to the district and its schools.”

The district welcomes feedback from the community about its new website. Please email [email protected] or call Communications Specialist Carole Spendley at 845-460-6200, ext. 6262.
