on October 4, 2021

During the 2021-2022 school year, Monroe-Woodbury Central School District is offering new bus drivers a $1,500 one-time sign-on bonus after they successfully complete 90 work days. As districts throughout the country strive to fill vacancies amidst a nationwide bus driver shortage, Monroe-Woodbury recognizes that district leaders need to think outside the box.

  • Flexible Schedules
  • Competitive Pay – minimum starting hourly rate for a substitute driver of $19.87; hourly rate for a permanent bus driver of $22.88
  • Training provided; no experience necessary
  • May register for NYS Pension System

“Filling these positions continues to be challenging, but we are hopeful that incentives like the ones we are offering will reinforce to these candidates how important this position is in a school district. Bus drivers are the first people our students see in the morning and the last people they see at the end of the school day. They are an important part of our students’ school life,” said Superintendent of Schools Elsie Rodriguez.
