M-W writes 2,756 letters to Santa for Macy’s Make a Wish® campaign

on December 17, 2018

Monroe-Woodbury High School’s S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) participated once again in the Macy’s Make-A-Wish® Letter to Santa campaign. For every letter to Santa written by the M-W school community, Macy’s donated $1 to Make-A-Wish®. Members of S.A.D.D. at both the high school and middle school set up tables for students to write letters during their lunch period on Believe Day, Friday, December 7. At the end of the day, M-W had written 2,756 letters, resulting in a $5,512 donation from Macy’s. The students did a phenomenal job pulling this all together.

In addition to the Letters to Santa campaign for Make*A*Wish®, S.A.D.D. also participated in the holiday Adopt a Family Program through The Orange County Youth Bureau. Members of S.A.D.D. adopted 8 children and collected gifts from their holiday wish lists. On Wednesday, December 6, members gathered at the high school for a wrapping party to organize and wrap the gifts. On Friday, December 14, Mrs. Martucci, the S.A.D.D. advisor, and two S.A.D.D. members, Emily Martucci and Cate Armstrong, delivered the gifts.

This is truly what the holiday season is all about!
