Meet Maeve Harrington, 2019-20 Student BOE representative

Maeve Harrington, 2019-20 Student Board of Education RepresentativeQ: How many years have you been going to school in M-W?
A: I have been going to Monroe-Woodbury since kindergarten at Sapphire Elementary.

Q: What activities/sports/organizations are you involved in?
A: I have been class president for the last three years and next year I will take on the role of president of the student body. I am currently on the girls varsity lacrosse team, and have been since freshman year. I am also on the strategic planning task force, and am involved with the athletic club. I assist with the adaptive gym class in the high school.

Q: How do you view the role of BOE Student Representative?
A: As the newly elected student rep for the BOE, I see this role as an opportunity to be the voice of the student community in Monroe-Woodbury to help maintain open lines of communication with the student body.

Q: What do you hope to accomplish next year as Student BOE Representative?
A: In this upcoming year as the BOE rep, I hope to improve the overall student experience through working with feedback from students of all grade levels throughout the district.

Q: Describe yourself in three words.
A: Compassionate, motivated and open-minded

Q: Describe M-W in three words.
A: Strong, community-oriented and encouraging

Q: Favorite memory of school (so far)?
A: M-W CARES Day because I was inspired by the stories the speakers shared with our school. I felt extremely lucky to be a part of a district that goes above and beyond for its students.

Q: What is something that people don’t know about you?
A:  I am a dog lover; I am especially crazy about my new puppy Mila. I love to snowboard and there’s nowhere in the world I’d rather be than in Rhode Island with my family.
