Message from Principal Arlt regarding water main break

on January 9, 2019

[The following message was emailed to CV families on Wednesday, January, 9.]

Dear Central Valley Families,

As you may be aware, there was a water main break at Central Valley Elementary School earlier today.  As a result, water was shut off to our building in the early afternoon. The necessary repairs were completed after students were released for the district wide scheduled early release day.  Late in the afternoon, the water was turned back on.

Earlier this evening, the Woodbury Water Department informed the district that, as a precaution, there will be no drinking water at CVE for the next two days. This is due to the fact that the water was shut off close to the amount of time in which the water department requires water testing to ensure the water quality. The water department will conduct their standard tests over the next two days to ensure the quality of the drinking water is where it was prior to the repair work.

The district will provide drinking water for all students and staff at Central Valley, and our food service department is taking the necessary steps to ensure breakfast and lunch will be served.

Central Valley Elementary School will be open for the school day both tomorrow, Thursday, January 10, and Friday, January 11.  All after school activities are cancelled,  for tomorrow, Thursday, January 10, and Friday, January 11, as the water fountains are shut off.  Children who attend the after school YMCA Club Kid program will be bussed by MWCSD transportation to the Middle School for the remainder of this week.

Please be assured that the district is keeping the drinking water turned off as a precaution at the recommendation of the Woodbury Water Department due to the amount of time the water was shut down to the entire building for repair work.  According to the Woodbury Water Department, this is normal procedure, and is not the result of anything that occurred as a result of the water main break.

Thank you for your continued support of our children.  We look forward to welcoming them for a regular fun filled school day tomorrow!

Sincerely,

Christine Arlt
