“Mock accident” traffic safety exercise to take place May 25

on May 23, 2017

On Thursday morning, May 25, Monroe-Woodbury High School will sponsor a traffic safety exercise in the high school parking lot. The purpose of this activity is to heighten students’ awareness of the hazards of driving under the influence of alcohol. All seniors will be invited to attend this educational experience in order to assist them in making better decisions during the end-of-year activities, such as the prom and graduation.

The Woodbury Police Department, Woodbury Fire Department, Ambulance Corps, and other emergency agencies will stage a realistic scenario depicting a vehicular accident which includes a mock fatality and other injuries.  Several seniors from the Drama Club will participate in this important activity supervised by the high school administration, faculty, school counselors and district school safety personnel.

Student safety continues to be of the highest priority for our school district. It is our hope that this activity will reinforce the importance of responsible behavior and good decision making.
