Orange County Department of Health Pertussis notification

on August 3, 2017

The district has been notified by the Orange County Department of Health that a few students from Monroe-Woodbury High School have been diagnosed with pertussis, also known as whooping cough, along with a number of other people throughout the county. The district is taking all necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of our students in the high school, including reaching out to students who we believe may have been exposed.

Please review the attached letter from the Department of Health. Among other things, it describes the symptoms of the disease and recommended treatment in case a child becomes ill. If you have questions, please contact your health care provider or the Orange County Department of Health at the number provided in their letter. Should you need to contact the district, please call the district health office at 845-460-7000.

We hope the remainder of your summer is happy and healthy! We look forward to seeing all our students on September 6.
