Scarlet Lewis head shotScarlett Lewis, mother of Sandy Hook Elementary School victim 6-year-old Jesse, has worked tirelessly for the past 6+ years spreading the “Choose Love” message around the world. On Wednesday, October 30 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium, Scarlett will be offering a free presentation open to the public based on “Choose Love” social emotional initiative.

A regular meeting of the Special Education PTA will be held at 6 p.m. prior to the Choose Love presentation. All are welcome!

As today’s youth face many challenges including bullying, mental illness, substance abuse and more, Scarlett speaks to the importance of social emotional learning and how parents and schools can work together to love and support our young people. Monroe-Woodbury is incorporating the “Choose Love” curriculum at the K-8 level throughout the district.

According to the “Choose Love” website:

Choose Love has been incredibly effective in cultivating a kind, caring and loving environment for students to thrive. In fact, in our latest survey* of Choose Love educators reported that:

  • 85% of students get along better
  • 91% of students have a more positive attitude
  • 94% said their students enjoyed the program

The Choose Love Formula teaches children essential life skills.
