Principal communication regarding MWHS incident

on October 25, 2021

M-W High School "message from" letterheadDear Monroe-Woodbury High School families,

On Sunday, October 24, Monroe-Woodbury High School administrators were made aware of a threat to MWHS, shared via the Anonymous Alerts reporting system. As is protocol, district administration immediately notified district safety staff and contacted local law enforcement. A full investigation was conducted and the threat was found to be non-credible. The high school had additional police coverage today as an extra precaution.

Since 2018, the school district has used the Anonymous Alerts reporting system to empower members of the M-W school community to speak up. The system allows for one-way or two-way anonymous communications between submitters (students, parents or community members) and district administration and/or school staff. Users are able to submit an anonymous report regarding any suspicious activity, bullying or other student related issues to the appropriate building level administrator directly from an iPhone or iPad, smart phone, tablet or computer.

A link to Anonymous Alerts may be found in Quick Links on the district website.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff is always our top priority. Each and every perceived threat made to the school district, whether verbal, written or posted on social media, will be taken seriously. Law enforcement will conduct a thorough investigation and the individual will face serious disciplinary action, per our Student Code of Conduct. We are grateful to the individual who shared concerns and encourage all members of our school community to partner with us in keeping our children and staff safe.

If you have questions related to this incident, please email me at [email protected] or call 845-460-7000, ext. 7001.

Sincerely,
John S. Kaste
MWHS Principal
