Richmond Boateng is Athlete of the Week

on January 3, 2018

The Monroe-Woodbury Athletic Director, Lori Hock, would like to announce that Richmond Boateng is the “Athlete of the Week” for the week ending January 5, 2018 for the Monroe-Woodbury Boys Varsity Indoor Track Team coached by Matt Hemmer.

Junior Richmond Boateng is enjoying a successful start to his 2017/2018 Indoor Track and Field Season. Richmond is a versatile athlete who specializes in long sprints and the high jump. At the recent Coach Glynn Holiday Carnival held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, Richmond set a new personal record in the 600m run by over 2.5 seconds. He ran an aggressive race and placed 3rd overall after winning his heat. Later in the meet, Richmond ran a smart leadoff leg on the 4x400m relay and put his team in a great position to earn a medal. Boateng’s early season success has him in a great position heading into the championship meets that will be held in February. Beyond that he is very much in contention to earn a spot at the NYSPHSAA Championships in March.

Congratulations Richmond!
