Seniors Meghan Catherwood and Daniel Luo named OCIAA 2021 “Senior Scholar-Athlete”

Two senior scholar athletesCongratulations to MWHS seniors Meghan Catherwood and Daniel Luo, who were among the soon-to-be graduates honored at the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) Senior Scholar-Athlete Celebration on June 2.

Meghan is Salutatorian of the MWHS Class of 2021, is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, STARS (Students Teaching Advocacy and Resilience Skills), LEAD Mentoring (Leadership, Empowerment, Advocacy, Dedication), Math Team, Interact Club and Athletic Club.  She served as team captain for the Varsity Swimming & Diving team and is a member of the Varsity Golf team. Meghan will attend Bucknell University, where she will be competing as part of the Division I Swim & Diving team.

Daniel has been recognized for his academic achievements, among them: he is a United States National Chemistry Olympiad (USNC) National Finalist, USA Biolympiad National Semifinalist with Honorable Mention;  and an AP Scholar with Distinction. Daniel is a member of the National Honor Society  and the National Spanish Honor Society. He was selected to perform in the NYS All-State Symphony Orchestra (violinist) and the NYS Area All-State Symphony Orchestra. Daniel is also co-president of the Mock Trial Club, co-captain of the Math Team and Chapter EVP for the Future Business Leaders of America as well as a member of the Boys Varsity tennis team. He plans to attend a research-focused university in the fall.
