All-State Participants

Excellence in music is a long-standing tradition in Monroe-Woodbury. Six MWHS student musicians have been named as part of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) 2021-2022 All-State festival.

Congratulations to the following musicians who have earned this prestigious honor (clockwise from the top):

  • James Dawson, Bass I, Alternate
  • Jordan Subocz, Double Bass, Alternate
  • Stephanie Peng, Violin, Symphony Orchestra
  • Amara Leitner, Oboe, Alternate
  • Alex Liu, Trombone, Alternate
  • Ethan Hala, French horn, Alternate

NYSSMA will host a reduced festival in December 2021. Each year, thousands of student musicians in New York State compete for an opportunity to be selected for the NYSSMA Conference All-State Music ensembles. Admission to these highly selective groups is based upon the score received the previous spring during the NYSSMA Solo Evaluation Festival, where each student performed before a certified adjudicator who carefully evaluated every aspect of their performance.

A special thank you to our dedicated teachers, Lauren Byrne, David Crone, and Richard Regan, who helped prepare and recommend these students for this honor.

BRAVO!
