Spanish 5 students polish skills at SUNY Spanish Day

on October 30, 2017

M-W high school Spanish 5 students visited SUNY Albany on Wednesday, October 25 for the second annual Spanish Day.

The Department of Languages, Literature and Cultures and the University in the High School Program held this event to offer UHS students an opportunity to interact with SUNY faculty, students and members of the Hispanic community.  It was a fun and educational experience for students who were able to practice Spanish plus test their knowledge in a full day of language and cultural activities.  Highlights of the day included the Tango workshop, the grammar and cultural Olympiads and the question/answer session with native speakers from different parts of the Hispanic world including Colombia, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Spain and Costa Rica.

Congratulations to Angela Prictoe  and Kristina Stevanovic, who were winners in both the Spanish Spelling Bee and the Cultural Olympiad events! Way to represent!
