M-W High School "message from" letterhead

Wednesday, October 06, 2021

Dear MWHS Community,

For many years, Spirit Week has been an integral part of the fabric of our high school.  Scheduled for the week of October 12th through October 16th, and sponsored by the Student Council, the week will once again be one that is geared toward highlighting Crusader Spirit.

Spirit Week is designed to unify the students and staff of MWHS.  It is a week during which our students have an opportunity to walk through the halls united by a common theme, culminating in the Pep Rally on Friday, October 15, and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 16.  Please note that the face mask mandate will continue during Spirit Week.

The details of the week are as follows:

Tuesday, October 12, 2021  – “Tourist Tuesday”…Dress up as a tourist

Wednesday, October 13, 2021  – “Walt Disney Wednesday”…Dress up as your favorite Disney, Marvel or Star Wars Character

Thursday, October 14, 2021  –  “Class Colors”

  • Freshmen: Wear Red
  • Sophomores: Wear Blue
  • Juniors: Wear Green
  • Seniors: Wear Tie-Dye

Friday, October 15, 2021  –  “Purple Pride Pep Rally”…Wear Purple

The Pep Rally will be held outside during the activities period that is built into the schedule for the last period of the day.  Students will be required to wear masks during the Pep Rally.

Saturday, October 16, 2021 – “Homecoming Dance”…7:00 PM – 10:00 PM on the football field

This dance is a semi-formal event where mask wearing is recommended.   Please know wedge shoes or flats are acceptable –  High heels or stiletto shoes are not allowed on the turf fields.

Tickets will be pre-sale only.  We will be using RevTrak, the online payment service, for students to purchase tickets.  Tickets will not be available for purchase at the door.  Ticket sales will begin Monday, October 11, 2021 and will end on Friday, October 15, 2021.  A link will be sent to students in a future email to purchase tickets.  Tickets will be $16 each.  The ticket price includes food and beverage.  The dance is for Monroe – Woodbury High School students only.  Outside guests are not permitted.  All students attending the dance must have their valid MWHS-issued ID to be admitted to the dance.  Unfortunately, we will need to cancel the dance in the event of inclement weather.

Monday, October 18, 2021  – “Wear Pink” for breast cancer awareness

While we want the week to be enjoyable and memorable, student learning remains the focus of the week.  We are asking that you assist us with making this week one that is safe and positive.  Students are not permitted to wear face paint or body paint to school for “Spirit Week.”

Just a reminder that the District Code of Conduct and Dress Code will continue to be enforced throughout the week.  Students under the influence or in possession of alcohol or controlled substances shall be subjected to the penalties outlined in the District Code of Conduct.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and for making this a week where all students, the entire high school community, will come together to celebrate our Crusader pride.

Be well.
