M-W families, members of the Woodbury Police Department, district employees and Target volunteers pose for a photo. Thanks to generosity of Target, 15 Monroe-Woodbury families recently received Target gift cards to purchase back to school supplies at the Back to School Event. This event brought together members of the Woodbury Police Department and the wonderful staff at Target who assisted families with their selections. The children were able to purchase backpacks, school supplies, sneakers and other items to help them get ready for the start of school.

Special thanks to Monroe Target Store Manager Alexis Smyrychynski and her dedicated staff, who work closely with the district to provide these types of events for M-W families. School Social Worker Denise Guerriero coordinated this event and more for M-W families by securing grants, meeting with local vendors and conducting outreach to families.

“This collaboration between Denise and Target is an example of what makes the Monroe-Woodbury community so special,” said Superintendent of Schools Elsie Rodriguez. “We are a family and we work together to provide the best experience for our children and inspire success. This event is just one example of the support the school district receives from our community. On behalf of the district, I want to recognize Denise, our local Target and the Woodbury Police Department for their support of our children. We are truly in this together.”
