Mark your calendars! Upcoming presentations to fulfill prom requirement

on October 7, 2019

M-W High School is offering a series of presentations designed for students and families to help raise awareness about the dangers of underage drinking. Students who plan on attending prom are required to attend at least one of these presentations with a parent or guardian.

There are several opportunities for students to fulfill the prom requirement:

November 6, 2019 – 7pm – 8pm at MWHS – M-W CARES DAY Presenter Kathi Sullivan speaks to parents as a mother who lost her daughter to underage drinking and poor choices. The presentation will include: alcohol awareness, underage and binge drinking, choices and consequences and social host liability.

January 28, 2020 – 7pm – 8pm at MWHS – M-W CARES Presenter A’ric Jackson will provide insight as to how we can live in the best way possible while staying true to yourself and your community.

March 10, 2020 – 7pm – 8pm at MWHS – ADAC will host a If They Had Known presentation. This documentary program focuses on today’s party culture and the risks of recreationally mixing prescription drugs with alcohol. It is an honest and emotional account of what happened to 19-year-old Clay Soper one fateful night spoken by friends who were with him.  The story is truthful and alarming and has proven to connect with students in a modern way. Panel discussion will follow the 35 minute documentary.

April 28, 2020 – 7pm – 8pm at MWHS – M-W CARES DAY Presenter Rick Adam – Rick uses original music, drama, mime, special effects and vaudeville in his compelling autobiographical theatre production (complete with scenery, costumes and props) to explore alcoholism, drug dependency, eating disorders, teen suicide and self-destructive attitudes.

Please reach out to M-W High School Principal John Kaste if you have any questions.
