Below is a monthly update from The New York State Department of Transportation regarding the Route 17 and Route 32 corridor at Exit 131 reconstruction project.
What to Expect
Route 17
The median on Route 17 will be paved and striped in preparation of a temporary traffic shift. The lane shift will create a safe and unobstructed work zone. Please be cautious of increased construction activities near the new Route 17 bridge.
Monroe-Woodbury Central School District
To increase visibility for motorists traveling through the Route 32 Corridor, lanes will be re-striped on Friday, May 11th. Also, work is continuing in front of Central Valley Elementary School. Please use caution as some work conducted by utility workers may take place outside of the protected areas.
Park-and-Ride at Route 32
The Park-and-Ride will be moved to its new location further down Locey Lane (see image to the right). This change will occur on Monday, May 14th. Signs will be posted to guide you to the new parking area. Please note, the existing Park-and-Ride will no longer be available for use.
Ramps
Please use extra caution while traveling on ramps as construction will be starting in the coming weeks.
Safety is top priority
Please use extra caution when traveling through the work zone areas. Pay close attention to posted speed limits, construction signs, and workers.
In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, drivers are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of one’s license.
