Update on 1/24/19 incident

on January 28, 2019

This letter was emailed to M-W Middle School parents from Principal Michael Maesano

The Woodbury Police Department has completed its investigation into last week’s threat to Monroe-Woodbury Middle School and has identified the student responsible for the message. The school district is taking appropriate disciplinary measures and consequences will be assigned accordingly. The threat has been determined to be non-credible. The individual’s name will not be released because the student is a minor.

We would like to remind our students and families that each of us plays a role in keeping our buildings safe and secure. All members of the school community – students, family members and staff – are encouraged to share information that could help lead to determining the credibility of a threat.

Monroe-Woodbury is dedicated to maintaining a learning environment where all students can be their best selves each day, and we know that can only happen when they feel protected. The school district will thoroughly investigate any threatening message, verbal or written, and responsible parties will face serious disciplinary action.

We are grateful to the Chester, Harriman, Monroe and Woodbury police departments who have maintained a continual presence at MWMS to ensure the safety of our school community.
