Update to Smith Clove water testing

on August 12, 2021

Following the initial water testing completed at Smith Clove Elementary last February, a second series of tests was performed in June to determine whether further remediation was required. Those results were received on August 10, 2021. In February, 36 fixtures (sinks and drinking fountains) were identified as exceeding the action level of 15 micrograms of lead per liter. Retesting those fixtures identified 23 that will require additional remediation. The remaining fixtures all tested below the action level. The 23 action level fixtures will continue to be posted with signs indicating that they cannot be used for drinking while additional remediation options are evaluated.
