November 13, 2020

Dear Monroe-Woodbury families,

Good afternoon. I want to encourage you to turn off the news and tune into your family this weekend. Make some new memories, create lasting traditions or simply just spend time together. Taking even a small break from “all things COVID” may be just what you need to feel refreshed and reenergized.

Here are some highlights from this week in our district:

North Main Elementary

Building administrators have shared how happy our students and staff are to be back in the building. They had a great week!

Elementary Instruction – Planning for Second Trimester

The school district has begun planning for the second trimester at the elementary levels, which will begin on December 7, 2020. We will once again be offering elementary students the option to participate in fully remote or hybrid (in-person) learning for the second trimester of the 2020-2021 school year. Parents/guardians are asked to please make a commitment for the entire trimester.

Please notify your child’s principal ONLY if there is a request to change your child’s current learning model from fully remote to hybrid or vice versa. This request must be received by Friday, November 20 to allow time for scheduling adjustments to be made. All changes to a student’s instructional model will be considered on a case-by-case basis and final determination will be made by your building administrators. Your child’s principal will follow up with more information.

COVID-19 Update

Monroe-Woodbury High School

The high school pivoted to fully remote instruction today after several COVID positive student cases resulted in the quarantine of 32 staff members. Students will return to the building on Friday, November 20.

The school district has one additional confirmed COVID positive student (A Cohort) in Monroe-Woodbury High School. The student was not in the building during the infectious period so contact tracing does not need to be conducted.

Thanksgiving Recess Reminder

All schools and district offices will be closed on Wednesday, November 25 – Friday, November 27, in observance of Thanksgiving.

An Attitude of Gratitude Kick-off

Stay tuned for information about Monroe-Woodbury’s gratitude campaign. We will be promoting an “Attitude of Gratitude” in all our buildings and throughout the school community. These past several months have been difficult ones and we will help spread positivity as the holiday season approaches. More to come on this next week.

Have an enjoyable weekend.

Warm regards,

Elsie Rodriguez
