Welcome back, Central Valley families!

on August 24, 2021

Dear Central Valley Students and Families,

Welcome back to a new and exciting school year!  We hope everyone had a wonderful summer, with much time for fun, relaxation and enjoyment.   We would like to extend a special welcome to all of our new families – we are very excited to have you as part of our Central Valley family!

Even though we were busy here at CVE getting ready to welcome everyone back, I was able to take our yearly trip down to the Outer Banks in North Carolina.  My son absolutely loves the beach, and my daughter took her first trip to the ocean.  After some trepidation with the salt water and waves, she learned to love the ocean as much as we all do!  Mr. Barone also had some fun adventures with his family, and we  can’t wait to welcome you back and hear about all of your fun adventures!

In addition to all of the fun we had with our families, we also had fun spending time getting our school ready.  We are excited to welcome all of our children back to full in person learning everyday, beginning on Wednesday, September 1!  As outlined by our Superintendent Mrs. Rodriguez, we will continue to follow COVID safety guidelines for our children and faculty this school year.  This includes not having visitors inside Central Valley Elementary School.

We know everyone is excited to receive their teacher’s name! Teacher assignments will be available in Power Shool for parents/guardians to view beginning Monday, August 23 after 2:00 pm.  Please be assured that class placements were worked on collaboratively with all of Central Valley Faculty to make best class and teacher selections.  A positive word and reassurance that we WILL HAVE a FABULOUS year will go a long way in helping our children prepare for and be excited about their new class, even if a best friend is not in the same class.

Transportation will provide all busing information as soon as they are able to.  Please be at the bus stop at least 10 minutes earlier than scheduled, and remember that buses run a little slower for the first few days of school.  If you are dropping your child off, and they are getting breakfast at school, drop off begins at 8:45 am. If you are dropping your child off, drop off begins at 8:55 am.  Pick up begins at 3:30 pm.  Please remember to inform us if you will be dropping off and/or picking your child up regularly from school.

What would school be without homework…for the adults of course!  On the first day of school, families will receive information and forms to fill out. Please remember that all notices from the office will be sent electronically.

Please remember that school begins for students on WEDNESDAY, September 1st.   Here are some important items for the adults to remember:

  1. Please remember to have a government issued photo ID to show EVERY time you come to the building.  Visitors are not allowed into the building.
  2. Please read and complete important information that will be sent home on the first day of school.
  3. Dismissal is an extremely busy time.  If you need to change the way your child goes home, please send a note in.  Sending emails on the day of the requested change may result in us not knowing of the change, as teachers and office staff may not have the opportunity to check emails, or the staff member you sent the email to may not be in, and no one else has access to another staff member’s email.  Please let the office know by 3:00 pm on the day of the change that you would like your child to go home a different way.  Please understand that we cannot pull children from buses or hold our buses back for last minute requests.  The only exceptions will be for emergencies.
  4. You will receive bus information regarding the bus stop and pick-up/drop-off time from the district Transportation Department.

There will be opportunities to meet your child’s teacher at an Open House, which will be held VIRTUALLY at 6:30 pm on Thursday, September 21st for Gr. 2 and 3, Gr. 4 and 5.   Teachers will hold virtual Open Houses at 6:30 and again at 7:15, to allow for families to participate in more than one meet should you have more than one child at CV.

Don’t forget to practice those smiles, air fist bumps, air high fives and “Good Mornings”!  Enjoy the rest of your summer, and on behalf of the entire Central Valley Faculty, welcome to a new and exciting school year!

And now what you’ve all been waiting for….

The Welcome back to school joke! (o.k. So this is what I wait for all summer long….)

What did the pen say to the pencil on the first day of school?

You’ll have to come in on the first day of school, Wednesday, Sept. 1 to find out!

Thank you for your continued support!  Have a wonderful rest of the summer, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Wednesday, September 1st.

Sincerely,

Christine Arlt                    Michael Barone
