MWHS students in Ms. Bullaās Explore Teaching as a Profession program are introduced to careers in education. Through this program, many students learn that working in this field goes far beyond the traditional classroom teacher role.
Throughout the school year, faculty and staff visit the classroom and give students a firsthand look at their roles within the district. Guest speakers include teachers, speech pathologists, school social workers, assistant principals, Board of Education trustees, assistant superintendents and superintendent of schools - all to inform students of the rewards and challenges of working in education.
During one session, Superintendent Norman asked the class why they wanted to become teachers. One student said, āI want to help kids who struggled like I struggledā and another said, āIāve met some great teachers here and I knew since I was young that this is what I wanted to do; I have that passion for it.ā
A common theme among speakers was their passion and love for the profession. Education offers many paths, but all require commitment, empathy, and a heart for service, all characteristics of a Crusader.
