Today commemorates the signing of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) into law in 1975. IDEA granted access to children with special needs to free and quality public education. Happy 48th anniversary!🤗💜

Q: How much would the project cost taxpayers?
A: The proposed $98 million proposal, which addresses the most critical infrastructure improvements in all seven school buildings and five non-instructional buildings, will have zero tax impact for our district residents.
The capital project would be paid for with no additional taxes due to further reductions in debt service, high levels of NYS building aid, and use of the District's capital reserve (savings for projects).
The capital project vote will take place on Dec. 5 from 6 a.m. - 9 p.m. at CVE. Learn more at https://www.mw.k12.ny.us/page/capital-improvement-program-december-2023

Congratulations to MWHS senior Anushree Buragohain who has been named a 2024 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist. Anushree will compete with other academically talented students from across the country for some 7,250 National Merit Scholarships offered next spring worth more than $28 million.
What an incredible achievement! Anushree shares more about herself, her future plans and advice for younger students at https://www.mw.k12.ny.us/article/1358936. We wish Anushree the best of luck! 🌟💡😀
Q: Anushree, what do you hope your legacy will be?
A: I hope that students will be encouraged to keep working hard and trying new things. High school is the time to begin to get to know yourself and find your place in the world, and there are so many opportunities to take advantage of in your time here.

Congratulations to MWHS student-athlete Isabelle Vaccarino for your impressive accomplishments! You truly embody the characteristics of a Monroe-Woodbury Crusader.
Isabelle has been a varsity cross country runner for four years. In addition, she is a 4 year Honor Roll Student.
"Isabelle is a wonderful person, student and athlete. She is prompt and on time and gives maximum effort. Isabelle exemplifies leadership around all her teammates. Members of the team that are new find answers and guidance in Isabelle. Isabelle is a role model to younger athletes as she is always available to listen and give positive feedback. Isabelle is often the first at practice, helping to set up and break down our field. The coaching staff will miss her hard work and dedication to the sport next year,” said Coach Goodwin.
The Student Spotlight recognizes one student-athlete each week who truly represents #crusaderpride. Way to go, Isabelle!

According to its website, SK's mission is for visitors to "experience large-scale sculpture and site-specific commissions under open sky. Since 1960, Storm King has been dedicated to stewarding the hills, meadows, and forests of its site and surrounding landscape." What a cool experience for our students, experiencing this unique exhibit in an outdoor setting!🎨🌞

Staff members from the Transportation Department and the Education Center met at the Bus Garage to deliver their donations of 390 handmade blankets destined for the arms of children who are "seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need.”
Project Linus has donated more than 9 million blankets to "children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug" since 1995 and M-W has been supporting their mission for several years. We are proud of our "blanketeers" for their kindness and caring, and for the many hours spent creating this mountain of hugs!💜🤗
