Dylan O'Brien, avid Star Wars fan and fourth grade teacher at Central Valley Elementary, was the winner of the Golden Ticket for the Super Sub initiative for October 2025!
Teaching elementary school is challenging but it is a little bit easier when it’s where your career began. For two hours, Superintendent Norman went back to his roots as a teacher and Mr. O’Brien was given the gift of free time to enjoy as he wished.
After Principal Barone introduced Dr. Norman as the substitute teacher for the morning, the students were eager to ask questions about what a superintendent does and what role he serves in the military. After a brief introduction, Dr. Norman was ready to teach!

Silent reading turned into vibrant class discussions as students helped one another with vocabulary words and complex math equations. Dr. Norman called students up to the white board to demonstrate the box method, an alternative way to break down multiplication examples, and encouraged classmates to assist one another. Dr. Norman had a great experience and the force was definitely with him!

Next up, MWHS.
