8th Grade Parents/Guardians,

The big day is almost upon us! The 8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24th in the HIGH SCHOOL gymnasium. You have received previous information about this event but we just wanted to share some details with you that will make this a great experience for all. 

Wristbands: On Tuesday, June 16th during their Advisory, all 8th grade students will receive an envelope containing three wristbands and a letter with information regarding the day of the ceremony.  If your child is absent from their Advisory on June 16th, please tell them to come to the main office to get their envelope before the day of the ceremony.  

Every adult and child must be wearing a wristband to enter the gymnasium. 8th grade students participating in the ceremony do NOT need a wristband.

Arrival: If you are bringing your 8th grade student directly to the High School, please be sure they arrive by 8:30 a.m. as the ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00.  8th grade students arriving at the Middle School by bus on the day of the ceremony should report directly to the New Cafeteria where they will be escorted to the High School by staff members. 

All students will enter the gymnasium and find their seats in their house color section. Each student is assigned a seat number within their house color.  Please open the link below and let your child know their seat number.  Staff members will also have lists in the event your child forgets their number.

Ceremony Seat Number Assignments for 8th Grade Students

Parking: There will be parking at both the High School and Middle School available for parents and family members. The high school lots will fill up quickly so we have made arrangements for parents to park at the Middle School where shuttle buses will be available to transport family members.

Ceremony Attire:  We are requesting that all 8^th grade students wear appropriate attire for the ceremony (i.e. dresses, collar shirts/blouses, dress pants/skirt; dress shoes).

Local Live Stream of Ceremony:  Any person without a wristband will be directed to the High School auditorium where they will be able to watch the ceremony via live stream. The ceremony will last approximately two hours.   Additionally, the local live stream link will be posted on the District website (MS Moving Up Ceremony: Local Live Stream)

Ceremony Site Map: We have included in this email a site map of the positioning/seating of our 8th grade students. Please notice where your child will be seated, as this location might be best for your viewing.

Departure: As the ceremony concludes, students will be directed by Mr. Vasquez to stand and head out of the gymnasium. Please meet your child out in the hallway or main lobby of the High School.  It is important to exit the High School and clear all the parking lots as quickly as possible.

Any 8th grade student who needs to take the bus home should remain in the High School auditorium and wait for directions from a teacher who will walk all of them back to the Middle School in time for dismissal.
