Dear Monroe-Woodbury families,
First, I want to thank all members of our school community for your continued patience, understanding, and flexibility as we navigate this challenging winter together. This morning was a clear example of how we sometimes must make quick decisions based on real-time conditions. I also want to extend my sincere appreciation to our buildings and grounds, custodial, and transportation teams, who work tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare our schools and offices each day. It truly takes a village.
There have been many questions regarding the districtās remaining snow days. As of today, we have two snow days remaining, due to the State of Emergency declared by Governor Hochul on February 23. We are closely monitoring forecasts for upcoming weather events that may impact our schedule and will share updates as needed.
If the two remaining snow days are used, the district would transition to remote learning. The districtās established remote instruction plans were developed with input from teachers and administrators and are designed to meet the needs of our students. If a transition is necessary, building principals will communicate further details directly with families.
I wish I could persuade Mother Nature to bring spring a little early, but it appears we still have some winter weather ahead before we can say a final farewell. The good news? The first day of spring is just 23 days away.
Warm regards,
Tracy Norman, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
