Monroe-Woodbury Middle School students gathered for a special assembly to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States. Decked out in red, white and blue, the Crusaders stood shoulder to shoulder to form the number "250" in honor of the milestone.
The event featured a speech by Superintendent Norman, who appeared in a full Army officer's uniform as the American flag flew from the Woodbury Fire Department’s Ladder 523. The celebration included a presentation of the colors by Girl Scout Troop 599 and Boy Scout Troop 440, a spirited reading of the Declaration of Independence by the drama club, and student musicians and chorus members performing the Star Spangled Banner.
Reflecting on the event, Principal Rafael Vasquez, Jr. remarked, "Each of us has a role in shaping the future. Through our actions, learning and the way we support one another we contribute to making our school, our community and our nation stronger."
